Accusations Abound

Everybody needs a scapegoat. If blame can be placed, it will be. I don't think this is anything new. Look at this set of headlines:

Allege. Say. Accuse. Without the truth (or believing the truth), it is easy to toss accusations around. Someone always looks bad.

I watched "Lost" last night, in which Sayid interrogated a man believed to be an "Other." Despite Henry's claim to be from Minnesota and crashing on the island while trying to cross the Pacific in a balloon, Sayid continued to claim he was lying. Eventually the truth will come out one way or the other.

The cover story for Popular Mechanics this month debunks many of the myths from the media regarding Hurricane Katrina. According to their study, much of what could be done was done. The floodwalls were built to specification, government response was quick to the area, evacuation plans worked, and so on. However, someone needed to be blamed for the sense of failure.

What have you learned from this post? If you don't like it, it's probably your fault!
